Happy New Today!

4th January 2019

Happy new year! I feel I can say that on 4th January as much as on January 1st. Surely every day is the start of a new year? How many of us make resolutions on January 1st that we’ve broken after a few weeks, or even days? We get disheartened and give up. But every day is new, a new year beginning, a new start. So here’s to starting afresh every day, a new date on the calendar, a new page in the diary.

The last few months of 2018 were a bit of a blur as I finished my master’s degree, exhibited my work, then bowled straight into Christmas. It’s only now that it’s all sinking in and I’m looking at the things I’ve been neglecting to do of late. There’s a list.

But first, what did you get for Christmas? My lovely family and friends know me well and I was lucky enough to be given an electric cooking ring so I can dye outside in the garden. Useful for al fresco stir fries too.

Ladles, slotted spoon and tongs, also for dyeing.

Edibles, nom nom! Including Afternoon Tea at a swanky hotel in Chester.

The prettiest gardening tools. Ever.

Liberty tape measure. Beautiful AND useful, William Morris would be proud :)

Practical, useful, beautiful and delicious gifts that have delighted me. What more could I ask for?

Most of the decorations are down now, with just the tree and outside lights to pack away. Back to real life again. And here’s a bible verse to inspire our journey onward.

"He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?" Micah 6:8.

Wishing you all a happy, peaceful, prosperous and creative year ahead.
